A Portrait contemporary Indonesian Islam
This book is derived from a collection of papers presented and speeches delivered by experts and scholars during and international seminar entitled: ‘A Portrait of Contemporary Indonesian Islam: remapping and responding to the worldwide social agenda”, which was held in Jakarta on December 14-15, 2005, and organized by the Center for Languages and Cultures in collaboration with Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung. A wide range of contemporary developments in Indonesian Muslim society are discussed in detail, The book forms an introduction into the pluralistic ways these developments are studied and explained. Questions of why dialogue with Islam is important and why Indonesian Islam deserves world-wide attention are well addressed in this book.
